A beauty queen has once again put Namibia on the international map when she walked away with the 2013 Miss Bikini title while she competed in the Miss Seven Continents pageant recently.
The popular annual prestigious beauty pageant was hosted at Bodrum in Turkey from 10 to 20 May. Leena Shindondola paid the office of Informanté Entertainment a visit this week and talked about her experience.
The 24-year-old, who earlier this year appealed to the public for assistance to sponsor her so that she can to represent Namibia and Africa in the contest, said that she was grateful for the sponsorship and hopes that she has made everyone proud.
“Last year I was not this lucky. I was approached by international talent seekers and got invited to take part in Miss Tourism Queen, but I could not attend the contest due to the lack of sponsorship. I was saddened and disappointed.”
The young beauty says that she felt privileged to be part of the international contest. “I did not only have to opportunity to rub shoulders with the who’s who in the modelling industry, but I have learned a lot.”
Leena saw the advertisement on Facebook which was calling for entries and she decided to apply. “When I saw the Bikini Category the idea of entering did not even cross my mind, but when I saw the requirements I decided to enter because I was tall enough.”
As part of her winnings Leena will model the newest designs for Deina Brentjens Fashion. In 2006, Leena was crowned as the first princess for Miss Heritage High School in Zimbabwe and this year she was one of the top five finalists for the Miss Youth Namibia pageant.
