A two year old child that was recently wrongly declared dead by the Katima Mulilo doctor two weeks ago has died.
According to a family member, the sickly child passed away last week Thursday while receiving medical attention after being wrongly declared dead some fortnight ago. “It is a sad moment for the family as we mourn the loss of our baby angel. It is unfortunate even after the incident at the hospital the child's spirit failed to win the fight,” said the family member. Last week Informanté carried a story about how the child was wrongly declared dead by a doctor after fainting in his mother's arms at Katima Mulilo State Hospital prompting the doctor to declare him dead. The child was saved by his mother who asked to be allowed to see him for the last time and then he called out at her. The child's father, a dismayed John Finuaghty, said his son had developed a high fever when the unfortunate incident occurred. “I am shocked at the way the doctor handled my son’s medical case and it pains me that he failed to explain how he declared him dead without a medical examination,” Finaughty said last week. A hospital source also said the doctor allegedly scribbled in the health book that the child has died without conducting a physical medical health check.
