The 7th and final DTS Maerua Superspar volleyball tournament for 2011 will be held on Saturday 5 November at the DTS sport field in Windhoek. Unlike the previous six editions of this popular tournament, the playing format has been changed from the traditional 2-a-side competition to a King, Queen and Prince of the Beach format. The new format entails that players have to enter as individuals and will have to play with numerous partners in order to make it to the final game. The aim is to determine the best individual Beach Volleyball player of the year. As usual, other categories for entry include a 4-a-side category as well as the 2-a-side beginner’s category for schoolgirls. Once again, most of Namibia’s top ranked players, such as Rector Mbeha, Heiko Diel, and Mwita Sikopo are expected to be in action come Saturday. On the same day, the DTS Volleyball organisers will hold the overall prize-giving ceremony for 2011. Floating trophies will be handed out to the overall winners in all categories as well as for the Fx Fitness Most Athletic Players of the year.
