Allow me to express my serious concern about decisions taken by the directors of three print media in this country.
When Namibian Sun became daily a newspaper, all black journalists of Republikein were transferred to the new daily: Fred Goeieman, Theo Gurirab and the paper’s correspondent at Oshakati, Placido Hilukilwa. Now Jan Poolman is removed as editor to make room for “a black editor.” That goes to confirm the already-existing perception that the DMH is slowly introducing racial segregation. The image I am getting confirms my worst fear that the two newspapers (Allgemeine Zeitung & Republikein) are exclusively for white journalists and one newspaper (Namibian Sun) is exclusively for black journalists. That may not be what is in the minds of DMH directors, but that is now the perception that is firmly in the minds of the Namibian people. And a perception (right or wrong) should be taken into consideration.
