With electricity supply contracts from Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA), which supply 23,7% of total electricity used in Namibia, coming to an end by 2014 and local power producer Paratus Power Station expected to stop supply by 2016, Namibia will experience a serious power shortage if nothing  is done to rescue the situation.

Cereal production in 2013 is forecast to decline significantly following severe drought conditions in Namibia, last week’s edition of the Global Information and Early Warning System (GIEWS) on food and agriculture warned. The national 2013 cereal output is estimated at 96 000 tonnes, 42% lower than 2012’s harvest.

The Namibia Training Authority (NTA) this week played host to the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (Merseta) of South Africa at the NamPower Convention Centre in Windhoek, where they signed a memorandum of understanding.
