Today is day two of a remarkable attempt to steer the Namibian job-creation discourse into a greener direction. The Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Decent Work Support Team (DWST) for Eastern and Southern Africa and the local Finnish Embassy, present a Green Jobs Workshop at the Hilton Hotel. Yesterday, permanent secretary of labour, George Simataa, and Rose Anang of the DWST welcomed the participants, who included labour minister Doreen Sioka delivering the key-note address.

Telecom Namibia has announced that it plans to build a fibre-based, mobile and wireless telecommunication infrastructure at Farm Gross Haigamas, 30km south of Windhoek. Farm Gross Haigamas is a greenfield development which has been turned into a golf and residential oasis, dubbed ‘Omeya,’ and sprawling over 260 hectares beneath the Auas Mountains.

FABUPHARM is a 100% Nami-bian-owned pharmaceutical manufacturer which has doubled in size over the past year, the company announced recently. The Otjiwarongo plant, which employs some fifty workers, increased its floor-space adding new storage areas, manufacturing rooms, and warehouses to satisfy international requirements and to be able to deliver on the numerous tenders it has recently secured.

NAMENE Kalili, manager of research and competitor intelligence at FNB Namibia, has announced that through November last year, the FNB House Price Index fell by a further 5.2 basis points as the number of properties traded during the month continued to increase.
