Nafau/Meatco await judgement PDF Print E-mail

JUDGEMENT has been reserved in the urgent court interdict between Meatco and the Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (Nafau) and 17 others, as well as the Meatco employees at Windhoek and Okahandja, until tomorrow. Meatco wants the High Court to declare the employees’ action not to work overtime at the Windhoek and Okahandja abattoirs as unlawful and in contravention of their contracts of employment. Meatco wants the court to order them to continue with their duties at these two plants where approximately 1 100 permanent and temporary workers are employed.

Dust is refusing to settle on issues surrounding water consumption bills between City of Windhoek (CoW) and residents. Residents are not happy with their water bills and responses they get, while CoW see the city growing as a challenge and contributing factor to high water bills.

The resilience of the children of the liberation struggle appears to have played in their favour with government’s decision to alleviate their plight through the Ministry of Veteran Affairs. The decision culminated from meetings held between the Namibian Exile Kids Association (NEKA), Prime Minister Hage Geingob and Veterans Minister Nickey Iyambo.
