WINDHOEK Central Hospital was left in shock when a 12-year-old girl gave birth to a baby girl earlier this week.  The father of the baby is said to be between 15 and 16 years old.  The baby is currently being kept at Windhoek Central’s Premature Unit, while the mother is recuperating in the Maternity Ward.

Nurses at the hospital, which currently has no Medical Superintendant following the suspension of Nkandi Shiimi, said the girl’s parents had visited the young mother and her baby.
However, the boy’s parents have so far not shown up.
“This is really strange, a lot of kids have been giving birth at Central Hospital recently,” said a source at the hospital.
The two young parents have reportedly been referred to Social Services. No police report has been made, and nurses say they are treating the matter as a Social Services issue.
