ACC arrests NPC employee PDF Print E-mail

THE Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a record clerk at the National Planning Commission Secretariat (NPCS), for fraud involving almost N$20,000.

ACC Director, Paulus Noa, said Ndinelao Hamufungu aged 34 was arrested for corruptly using her office to obtain gratification.
Paulus said the ACC received a complaint that Hamufungu corruptly created fictitious payments on the system by creating fake suppliers and issuing cheques in the name of such suppliers.
“After a thorough investigation was carried out, ACC discovered that two cheques for the amount of N$ 6,374 and N$12,000 were issued to the same supplier by the name Kandjala EN. Investigations further revealed that the supplier to whom the two fictitious payments were made is a cousin of the suspect by the name Kandjala Elise Ndinomholo and she works as a caretaker of the two children of the suspect,” Paulus said.
He added that the two suspects were arrested and appeared in court and were given N$4,000 bail. 
Meanwhile, Police have arrested a 29 year-old Taiwanese official for contravening the exchange control act.
Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Hophni Hamufungu confirmed the case and said Hu Jeff Kuoh-Sun was arrested in Windhoek, case number CR456/01/2010 when he was found in possession of US$8,700, €1,700 and £65 British.
