NAMIBIA will next week participate in an international tourism convention in Germany to enhance its marketing and interact with other international players.
Speaking at a function hosted in the capital this week, Namibian Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Digu //Noabeb said Namibia will be part of an international tourism exhibition in Germany next week. The exhibition will also give local tourism companies a chance to clinch deals with other international tourism organisations and also market the country’s tourism packages at a world platform. “We will be among some of the world’s leading tourist countries in the world and this will also give local black empowerment agencies an opportunity to interact with international companies. This will go a long way in exposing our country to the international community,” said //Noabeb. The local companies that will represent Namibia at the tourism convention for the first time will include Exotic Travel owned Hilja Nghiwete, Abadi Safaris owned by Meke Imbili and Vulkanruine Rhino Tours owned by Julius Gawaseb. According to the NTB Namibia will also broaden its opportunities of clinching international deals with other countries in the world. //Noabeb revealed that this is the first time such an international tourism convention is being attended by local business people adding that this would corroborate Government efforts of empowering local people in business. He said tourism is expecting better times ahead and has contributed significantly in creating jobs in Namibia as it is the third largest employer in the country. “We continue to work for the betterment of local Namibian people and our international tourist and we are exploring other ways of improving service delivery in the sector,” he said. He added that the country still has an opportunity of taping into the opportunities provided in the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa to be hosted in three months. While NTB is making concerted efforts to market Namibia’s tourism packages internationally, //Noabeb said efforts should also be made to promote domestic tourism. |
