Kwaito and Rock? One could argue that the two genres won’t work together, however it is now public knowledge that multi-award winning musician, The Dogg and Rock band Famaz Attak are teaming up to produce something fresh and new.

Famaz Attak (Rene Traut, Alex Ray, Mathias Schuckmann and Heiner Ihlein) and kwaito artist The Dogg (real name Martin Morocky) will record a song together and will tour through Namibia towards the start of August. Famaz Attak’s manager, Natasha Fernandes, says that she is very excited about the news and cannot wait for the project to kick off. She however admits that she had doubts at first about the collaboration, because of the different genres of music that would normally not blend together. “At first I thought that it was impossible, because I did not see kwaito and rock together, but it can be done. When you hear their music you will completely love it, I tell you that right now,” she says in excitement. Fernandes says that the two-week tour will would start in Windhoek and will travel to the coast, Ondangwa and will end in Rundu.
She adds that the aim of the tour is to host music shows in different towns and to give the public something different. “Having performances in different towns will bring both The Dogg and Famaz Attak’s fans together to one show. Their fans would be attracted to the same venue and learn about each other’s music,” she says. So, what can the public expect from the touring artists? According to Fernandes the artists will collaborate on a few of their previous songs. An example that she pointed out is ‘The Deception” from The Dogg: “Famaz Attak will sing some of the lyrics of The Dogg’s song and he will also sing some of Famaz Attak’s lyrics,” she explained.
Besides the tour the rock and kwaito artists are also going to release a song together. Fernandes is sure this is something that the public will enjoy. “They are great artists. Just imagine their voices put together on the same song,” she ponders with a big smile.
Fernandes is also the manager to South African-based artist, Stefan Ludik. She says confidently that she can manage several artists at the same time and that it is not a major problem for her. Rock and kwaito fans can expect to check them on the road from the start of August.
