The now long overdue renovation and improvements at the Walvis Bay office of the Namibia Traffic Information System (Natis) is finally going to take place.
It will not be without discomfort though, as it was announced that the office will be closed on Friday (8 June 2011) to give personnel the opportunity to relocate to temporary offices at the Kuisebmond Municipal complex. Work will resume as normal again this coming Monday at 08h00 at these temporary offices so that construction work and renovations can commence at the current offices. A joint statement by the Municipality of Walvis Bay and the Roads Authority confirmed the move this week and it was said that construction and renovations will take three months before Natis will move back into the new building. Traffic law enforcement services will not be affected by the move. For the public there is some inconvenience, as all paper work must still be obtained at the temporary Natis office in Kuisebmond while roadworthy tests and learner’s license tests will take place at the existing building at the traffic department. In its statement the Municipality asked the public to use the correct entrance in order to prevent interference with service delivery of the Municipality of Walvis Bay. For the public’s convenience, here are the directions to reach the temporary Natis office in Kuisebmond: cross the Kuisebmond Bridge from the direction of town, down Sam Nujoma Avenue. Take the first turn left and immediately right again. On your right hand side will be the entrance to the municipal parking lot. Use the entrance to the right hand side of the building to reach the Natis office, as the entrances in front are for the Municipality office in Kuisebmond and the Kuisebmond police station respectively. Any inquiries can be directed to 064-212900.
