Round four of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Enduro Series was held in and around Aranos on Saturday, 9 June. This year the event again proved to be a huge success with local riders joining the national competitors to take on the red dunes and other obstacles. A total of 96 riders took part in the event, proving that the number of competitors in the sport has been growing during this year, said organisers. Racing got underway in chilly conditions, but the riders were soon sweating and fighting it out for the top spot in the different classes. In the bike class, Tommy Gouws scored his second victory of the season by beating Henner Rusch by 32 seconds in a closely-fought battle over the 180 km total distance. In the National Quad Class Windzor Huselman produced a convincing win to secure the top spot in this class. A business class and a farmers’ class were added to ensure that the community becomes part of the action. The participants in these classes all agreed that the sport requires discipline and fitness, but appreciated the opportunity to test their mettle against the country’s top riders. In the 200cc Class, it was Kai Hennes (KTM) who secured victory ahead of Claude Brendel (KTM) and Jὃrn Greiter (KTM) in second and third place respectively.
