Every person has a dream. The lead actor Haimbodi Ya Mateusha is no different. He leaves his family in the village and goes to the capital city, Windhoek, in the hope finding a job and starting a better life.
Haimbodi Ya Mateusha stays with his sister in Katutura, but soon realises that it is difficult to find a job in a city with a huge population of unemployed. With little chance of finding a job he becomes part of the city’s unemployment strata. Haimbodi Ya Mateusha does not give up though, but keeps searching for alternatives to try and make ends meet. He starts selling oily fat cakes on the streets of Katutura. He is doing this to hone his skills as a salesman and at the same time to make some money. Meanwhile his teenage nephew and friends decide to rob Haimbodi of his hard-earned cash. The film intermingles comedic moments with serious drama. Having heard of the high rate of robbery and crime in the city, Haimbodi tells his nephew that he places his money in his shoes. The nephew tells his friends and they decide to rob Haimbodi. After having been robbed Haimbodi Ya Mateusha thinks of another alternative to keep his money safe. He tells his nephew that he will buy a loaf of bread the next morning and place all his money inside it, but his nephew again tells his friends and they take the bread from him. Haimbodi Ya Mateusha becomes miserable as he realises that crime and violence are a daily reality in the city, one that he will have to face up to. Part one of the story has been completed and leaves the audience hanging in suspense as we are left unsure about what exactly is about to happen. Part two is due to be released later this year. The film is directed by Fellep Uupindi. It is 50 minutes long and the dialogue is predominantly in Oshiwambo and Afrikaans. Unfortunately there are no sub-titles for international audiences. The film is available on DVD format at Universal Sounds, Mono Music Shop, 2nd video Shop and Okangwena Bar.
