The fifth round of the Bank Windhoek Namibian National Series Enduro series will be hosted at Albrechtshöhe this coming Saturday, 14 July. With the season over the half-way mark the championship race is truly on. The race will take place on the Meyer farm 25km east of Karibib (sign-board states ‘Albrechtshöhe’). A few changes have been made to the track, nick-named the ‘Rocky Horror Race’, but the regulars and the brave riders will tackle the rockface, while the chicken run for the not-so-brave will remain an optional route.A good mix of twisty sand sections and several river-beds will provide a great challenge. In class 1 Kai Hennes holds a 10-point lead over Jörn Greiter. In class 2 Ingo Waldschmidt has a 7-point lead over Tommy Gouws, with Henner Rusch only one point behind him. In class 3 the national quads is still wide open with Windzor Huselman leading Johan Steyn by two points and Heiko Bernstein looking to close down the six points on second place. In the ladies’ quads Maike Bochert holds a 29-point lead, but can’t relax with the younger ladies chasing hard and improving all the time. In the master Bikes, Andreas Brendel holds a 20-point lead over his team mate, Eckhard Waldschmidt, while in the master quads Fanie Steenkamp has a 12-point lead over Clinton Hilfiger. In the support bike class Glen Brown is holding onto a 1-point lead over Phlippie Baard, while in the support quad class Enrico Malan has a comfortable 20 point lead over second place Willem Köhne. In the junior quads Lotario van Wyk also has a 20 point lead over R.J. Visser. With ten classes set to race during this event, and the location halfway to the coast, entries look again set to show the growth of the sport with riders from the coastal area joining the fun. The Albrechtshöhe event is co-sponsored by Sat Com, the supplier and sponsor of timing equipment for the series. All riders interested in this event can get more information on the website www.namibianenduro.com or contact Kai Hohmeier on 0812615106. Saturday’s Enduro will start at 07h00.
