When it was time for the bar to close, Eveline told her friends that the police had arrived and that the bar was about to close, urging them to leave, but one of her friends insisted on staying.

“When the police officers came out of the police van, one asked me, ‘Hey you, what are you talking about?’ and I told him that I was telling my friend that we should go home. The police officer, known as Constable Thomas, who lives in New Look Location, slapped me and pushed me to go in the van and I told him I won’t, because I did nothing wrong.”

“I wanted to throw the bottle I was drinking from and I accidently hit him. He pushed me into the van and drove to the police office and when we got there, he hand-cuffed and took me behind the charge office and started yelling at me, ‘You bitch! I will open a case against you.’ He and other police officers asked me to lie flat on the floor and started to hit me with a short baton on my legs and buttocks. He hit me 30 times and asked me to stand up. That’s when he took me to the charge office and opened a case that I hit him with the bottle,” Eveline reported.
