The joint venture of United Sport Club and the Trustco Group in September 2011 has culminated into the launch of a revamped state of the art Trustco United Sports Grounds last week Friday.

The official opening is a further testimony of the numerous developments that Trustco United Sport Club has completed since. The refurbished premises now affords the public an opportunity to boast world class sporting facilities amongst them rugby, hockey and cricket fields, two netball courts and a 500 square meter family restaurant.Trustco Group, in line with its on-going endeavor to invest in the development of the larger community, has committed itself to this sponsorship initiative for a period of five years.

These facilities were established in 1916 and have over the years become a beacon for sport development to communities. Quinton van Rooyen, Managing Director for Trustco Group Holdings, was upbeat about his company’s partnership with United Club. He said: “We feel honored to be part of sport development in Namibia, more so in partnership with one of the oldest clubs in the country.

The rationale behind this venture is painted on our joint ideology, Trustco and United Club, that the world can be a better place for all if we advance the principle of creating wealth through strong family ties and communal relations. We are confident that these facilities will be put to good use not only by Club United, but that the surrounding communities will continue to utilize the facilities, in this era of limited sports fields.”

Trustco continues to support sport development in Namibia. Since 2009, the company has invested in squash to the tune of N$1 million over a three year period and has supported various junior and senior sports teams locally and for participation in international competitions over the years. The company will continue this thrust and prefers to involve with organizations and clubs that promise to provide sound administration and effective business plans in sport development.

“We want to believe that Club United is one of those with sound administration and our wish is that the club will now expand the participation base,” Van Rooyen concluded.
