THE buzz and excitement of the Youth Expo is almost upon the Erongo Region again, and will take place for the second consecutive year at the Swakopmund Amphitheatre from June 25 to 29 to promote the ideas and business aspirations of young Namibians with cash prizes to be won.

As with last year, the Erongo Regional Youth Forum aims at providing a platform to showcase the youth entrepreneur’s products, services and talents to ensure that more young men and women are assisted in starting up their own businesses.
According to Gerson Geingob (Regional Youth Officer) entry forms were distributed as from last month throughout the region, and there is an indication that they will top last year’s participation of 300 entries.
The main objective he says, is to encourage the youth to participate in economic development and to actively contribute to the nation building process to reach their goals and ambitions. The Expo also aims at promoting young up-coming entrepreneurs, to get involved in the creation of employment for themselves and others.
It is expected that one of the Ministers will officiate at the event which will take place as from Friday, June 27. There are cash prizes to be won for the winners in the two different categories which comprise artists and exhibitors.
The event is being held in partnership with the Erongo Regional Youth Forum, the National Youth Council of Namibia, Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture.
As with last year the Youth Expo is expected to attract arts and craft entries, tailoring, food processing stalls as well as the latest up and coming music talents from the region. Categories will include traditional music, solo vocalist, group vocalist and HIV/Aids compositions.
Saturday’s highlight will provide expo-goers with a live a concert performance by invited local musicians, and a ‘Miss Expo’ competition at which a winner will be selected and crowned by the organising committee before the start, to add a touch of glamour to the proceedings.
The Erongo Regional Youth Expo aims at providing a platform to ensure that more young men and women are helped in starting their own businesses and developing their skills in the field that will further their careers, as well as show-case the talents of musicians.
