THE 2010 Local Organising Committee (LOC) and world football governing body will next week release World Cup tickets for sale through First National Bank (FNB) and the internet.

FNB Namibia has confirmed however, that there will not be any tickets channeled to them for sale. “FNBSA (FNB South Africa) is a separate entity from FNB Namibia and the rights as National Supporter of the FIFA 2010 World Cup are limited to FNBSA. FNB branches outside South Africa belong to separate legal entities,” said Corporate Communications Manager FNB Namibia, Cassius Moetie.
Three million tickets have been reserved for 2010, but only half will go on sale to the general public. The sale of tickets will kick-off on February 19, but only at FNBSA branches and via the world football governing body’s website www.fifa.com at the moment. The tickets will be sold by application.
“Although FirstRand is the majority shareholder in FNB Namibia, FNB Namibia is a Namibian company with its own board, and therefore no tickets will be channeled to us,” said Moetie.
The cheapest tickets will go for around N$200 for the first round games, with the most expensive tickets topping out at N$900 for the final.
