Bojo Mujo pitches at last minute PDF Print E-mail

SOUTH AFRICAN deejay Bojo Mojo almost failed to pitch for his gig at Club La Dee Das last weekend, when he opted to drive to Windhoek from South Africa rather than be flown in by club management.

Bojo Mojo, who has a history of having stood up crowds after failing to show for an earlier gig in Windhoek last year, did not arrive in the capital until after 01h00 for a performance scheduled for 23h00, despite being paid well in advance.
His previous record left fans and management convinced that the DJ would not show up for Saturday’s gig, and La Dee Das’ management had no choice but to improvise.
Because of the South African’s late arrival, the club’s events manager and resident deejay, DJ Droopy, was forced to announce that everyone in the crowd would receive a free ticket for the club’s Valentine’s Day event this weekend, if Bojo Mojo failed to show.
DJ Droopy confessed to being extremely stressed at the time and accused Bojo Mojo of being very unprofessional. “It’s very unprofessional for a deejay who is in such high demand,” he said.
He also stressed that if Bojo Mojo had not pitched up, he would have held a substitute show at his own expense, or refunded La Dee Das so that they could fly in DJ Cleo and stage a free gig to reimburse the fans.
Bojo Mojo is said to have only crossed the Namibia/Botswana border at around 20h00 on Saturday, and arrived in Windhoek just after 01h00 on Sunday morning for a show scheduled to commence at 23h00 on Saturday. But Bojo Mojo did show up eventually and the crowd — entertained well by DJ Droopy and two other local deejays in the meantime — went wild as the South African began mixing his songs.
DJ Droopy said he was concerned about the situation La Dee Das’ management might have faced had Bojo Mojo never turned up. “What if he did not pitch up? This would have been a big issue again,” he said.
Droopy however added that he was extremely thankful to the Namibian crowd for their patience and loyalty to the nightclub. “I once again want to give our thanks to the Namibian crowd for their loyal support,” he said. - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
