Not all are brothels PDF Print E-mail

Dear Editor,

WITH regard to the article in your newspaper  dated 11 January, 2007 - Sex and pimps invade Windhoek North,   I hereby wish to point out the following:
1 have been running a totally legal Bed  & Breakfast establishment for a number of years; clean, quiet and above reproach, as have some other people in our area (which gets frequently inspected by the Namibian Tourism Board).

We were never even aware of these brothels nor were any of my regular clients which makes the word Invade all the more inappropriate and unfair. I can guarantee you that these are run and frequented mostly by illegal immigrants, so I do hope that the police and immigration services has rectified this matter.

To use the word  Invade is a gross  injustice to the people who run legal establishments which  suggests to readers that there are brothels in every street and round every corner in Windhoek North.

Are you quite sure this sort of thing and more is not taking place in more affluent suburbs of Windhoek, albeit more "sophisticated ",  as they are sly enough to cover their tracks and keep only a few selected clients, for the simple reason that people, mostly men, cannot keep things like this to themselves and brag about it as if it is a major achievement (a feather in their cap so to speak).

I invite prospective clients to come and inspect my establishment before making a booking but most of them cannot avail themselves of this opportunity as they are mostly from outside Windhoek and arrive late afternoon or evening and would rather not waste time to book somewhere else.

I need you to publish this letter at your earliest convenience as me and others have already lost a lot of business because of this article.
