Partake in sports in the name of God, Amen. The Jesus Christ Sports League (JCS) has been launched to cater mainly for Christian sports men and woman in Namibia. The move has been hailed as a dream come true by JCS Chairman, Dennis Kandovazu.
‘’It may have taken a little longer to get here than some expected, but that in itself is a testimony to the significance of what is taking place. Our main motto is; empowering young Christians,” says Kandovazu. The Jesus Christ Sports League comprises of four sports codes; soccer, netball, volleyball and athletics. It is open to all Pentecostal churches in Namibia. ’’What invoked me to come up with this idea is the concerned with the lack of healthy activities for young Christians in Namibia. JCS league aims to put Christian principles into practice, by developing a healthy spirit, mind, and body,’’ Kandovazu added. The league’s spokesperson Joel Kauami urged all participants to exhibit a sportsmanship spirit and not to put the name of Jesus to shame. “Each individual should display a Christ-like character. Rules and regulations are firm and should be executed well’’ says Kauami. The league will commence on 21 March 2012, with the last day of the league planned for 1 December. Due date for registration is on the 10th of March 2012. Interested parties can contact Dennis Kandovazu @ 0814570072
