Ondangwa-based, Pascal Kachele, was awarded a medal as the most motivated player during the recently-concluded DOC volleyball tournament in Walvis Bay. Kachele, who originally played for the Six Stars team, was part of /Nâkapele Boys group of players composed from various teams of the Northern VolleyBall League, which went to the coast recently. They won two games and lost two.

The DOC tournament is an annual event named after the first sponsor, a medical practitioner who was based in the coastal town of Walvis Bay, hence it is nick-named DOC. Led by its manager, Joline Diergaardt, and coach Mwita Sikopo, the /Nâkapele Boys team was sponsored by individuals and local business people. Sponsors include Northern Pest Control, Trustco, Palmeira Lodge (Valentine),Onethindi 24 Take away and Mini-Market,  De Nangolo Enterprises, Frieda Kishi  and HTC Kaim Investments.
Diergaardt expressed her thanks and appreciation to the sponsors who made it possible for the /Nâkapele Boys to participate in the tournament. “We would like to encourage more businesses in the North to assist in developing volleyball.  There is lot of talent among the youth who need  assistance, in terms of finance, training and exposure,” she noted.
