Records at local car dealers reveal that white vehicles are by far the most popular choice among Namibian customers. Records at Windhoek-based China Auto Manufacturers (C.A.M) in Windhoek indicated that 80% of vehicles that are brought from the car dealer are white.

Sales manager, Niel Bouwer at C.A.M says “Every third customer who walks into the shop would normally request to buy a white colour. White cars don’t attract heat as easily and they are often cooler than other cars on very sunny and hot day.”
Jennifer, another sales executive at C.A.M, says that “As a result of the big demand for white cars we would often order more white cars.” Sales executive at Land Rover Windhoek, Dylan Kaye also confirmed to Informanté Speed that more white cars are sold at their outlet than any other colour. “The Namibian road is full of white cars and it clearly indicates that more drivers would prefer to buy a white car.”
Walter Hough at Spes Bona Motor Company in Windhoek says that white cars are so high in demand, because white cars are easier to repair. He says that white paint for vehicles is also less expensive than other colours on the market. He further adds that white cars don’t get dirty easily. “You cannot easily see when a white car is dirty.”
Hendrina Buys recently bought a white car a driver and told Informanté Speed that white is an easy-to-love color. “I bought myself a white car, because it is a great-looking color. They simply look stunning,” she says.  Another driver, Paulus Nujoma says that white cars are more fashionable. He says “buying a yellow car simply because the color is in fashion won’t get a car owner very far. After a few months that color goes out of fashion and the car looks too bright on the road. The driver would then have to repaint the car. I only buy white cars, because it will always be in fashion,” he enthused.
