the Namibian Basketball Federation (NBF) selected their preliminary Under-20 national squads in a three-day clinic at Augustineum Secondary School in Windhoek on 27 April 2012, after completing all regional trials.
Forty girls and boys from all over Namibia had to undergo a tight schedule which included athletic tests, ball-handling tests, shooting contests, one-on-one contests, three-on-three and five-on-five games. The two selected preliminary squads will vie for medals at the Zone Six U20 Youth Games in Zambia later this year. The boys’ team consists of, in alphabetical order, Fillemon Auwanga, Paita Cecilio, Iyaloo Fransiseo, McDonald Garab, Tayson Haimbodi, Landuleni Iipinge, Andrew Oletu, Stephen Kaluwa, Raphael Paulus, Tuhafeni Shinyama, Reginald Sisande, Albino Siwongo. The 12 chosen girls are Shakira Ajam, Aily Alfeus, Lizanne Cloete, Frieda Kolowali, Sylvia Nampadhi, Vanessa Neumann, Saima Sakaria, Alma Samuel, Hertha Shimuketa, Victoria Shilongo, Nina Simao, Yolanda Tobias. On call are Onesmus Haipa, Titus Paulus and Isack Uutoni for the boys, while Marjory Harases, Merlyn Lucas and Teopolina Shikulo make up the stand-by team for the girls. The national trials were conducted by Frank Albin, assisted by local coaches and administrators. The trials were made possible by the support of the Directorate of Sport in the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture, the German Olympic Sports Confederation and the German Federal Foreign Office.
