The landmark Swapo congress has, to a certain extent, cemented democracy within the ruling party, albeit with minute flaws. The party has shown maturity last week and it has probably learned from its mistakes made at the chaotic 2004 Congress, when it was evidently in disarray and not equipped to adopt democratic principles of free choice and free and fair elections. This time around, it has shown that it can match the principles of the Constitution it presides over.
