Squabbles over the community tap at Okakwiyu location in Onethindi settlement continue unabated as both the committee chairman and alleged defaulters are taking to the trenches with back-and-forth accusations of malpractices. The chairman of the Water Point Committee, Benny Nakanyala, told Informanté that the tap was closed in mid-March due to consumers who defaulted on payment for many months.

Officials from the Directorate of Rural Water Supply stormed out of a meeting with aggrieved Local Water Committee (LWC) members recently.  This after the content of a letter from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry, Joseph Iita, was rejected and condemned as a non-starter.
