WALVIS Bay has been hard hit by the deaths of several well-known residents this week. Peter Punzul, 74, died in his car last Saturday only a stone’s throw from the bird island near the coastal road where he used to walk his two beloved dogs every weekend for many years.

Walvis Bay’s fishing stakeholders expressed their disappointment this week over the granting of a fishing licence to the European Union registered super trawler vessel Dirk Diederik to catch a 10 000 tonnes horse mackerel quota in Namibian waters.
