The newly-constructed headquarters of the JJD Group in Walvis Bay’s Theo Ben Gurirab Avenue, owned by well-known businessman and soccer personality Johny Doeseb, was targeted by burglars early on Sunday morning. The group suffered severe losses when laptop computers containing sensitive financial and engineering information were stolen. A flat screen television and other unspecified valuables were also taken.

A four-year-old boy drowned at the Walvis Bay Kids Haven recently, only hours after he has been admitted to the facility by social workers as his mother was deemed mentally unfit to properly care for him.

WALVIS Bay has been hard hit by the deaths of several well-known residents this week. Peter Punzul, 74, died in his car last Saturday only a stone’s throw from the bird island near the coastal road where he used to walk his two beloved dogs every weekend for many years.
