The much anticipated fight of Anthony Jarmann will now take place this Saturday, 18 February, at Windhoek Country Club after several postponements of the fight.
Jarmann will hopefully get to defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Junior Middleweight title against South Africa’s George Mdluli.
“We are still waiting on the Boxing Board Namibia to sanction the fight but Boxing Board of South Africa gave clearance to the boxer and WBA sanctioned the fight,” said promotor Kinda Nangolo.
Jarmann was scheduled to defend his title against Mhlongo from South Africa last year in December although the initial fight was scheduled in November which also got postponed.
Mhlongo indicated that he was not available for the fight due to injuries from an earlier fight.
Again, last year in April the boxer was scheduled to fight South African Malibongwe Ndzube but the fight got postponed due to reasons which was not provided.
If the fight is postponed again it will be the fourth time that Jaarmann’s fight had to be postponed.
Jarmann boasts a record of 15 fights with 13 wins, 1 loss and a draw while his opponent holds a record of 12 fights with 8 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.
He won with a sixth-round technical knockout (TKO) to claim the vacant junior middleweight title last year in May after defeating Christiano Ndombassy from Angola.
Last year Kinda Nangolo accused the chairperson of the Namibia Boxing Control Board, Ellison Hijarunguru of bad mouthing his promotions with the WBA Vice President for Africa.
